Test Engineer (Systems/Network)

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

In this role, you’ll support the modernization of the FAA’s network infrastructure as it transitions from FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) to FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS). You’ll work with network engineers and other technical teams to integrate, test, troubleshoot, and validate systems that support the National Airspace System (NAS).

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong networking background, testing, troubleshooting, and solving complex technical problems.

Responsibilities:

Support the integration and testing of FAA network systems using the FTI National Test Bed (FNTB) and FENS Network Test Bed (FeNTB).

Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and test cases for network systems and equipment.

Prepare test reports documenting results, issues, and recommendations.

Perform integration, interoperability, maintenance, degraded operations, and technology refresh testing for NAS systems.

Develop test strategies and perform testing for user connections to FAA network environments.

Support IP addressing, network configurations, and data-flow documentation through IPSFs.

Troubleshoot network connectivity, configuration, and interoperability issues.

Support testing and integration of SWIM/SOA services used by NAS systems.

Support network and security testing, including penetration testing and related security validation activities.

Support FAA network architecture and baseline changes, including review of applicable technical documentation.

Collaborate with engineers, system owners, and other technical teams to identify and resolve issues.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

13+ years of experience in systems engineering, network engineering, network testing, or a related area.

• Masters Degree in computer science, engineering or related technical degree and 10+ years of relevant experience
• Associate Degree computer science, engineering or related technical degree and an additional 2 years of relevant experience
• High School Degree and an additional 4 years of relevant experience.

Strong understanding of TCP/IP, IP addressing, subnetting, routing, and Ethernet.

Experience developing and executing technical test plans and procedures.

Experience troubleshooting network systems and analyzing test results.

Experience with network analysis/testing tools such as Wireshark.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for organizing, tracking, analyzing, and documenting technical/test data.

Proficiency with Microsoft Visio for creating and maintaining network diagrams, system architecture diagrams, and technical documentation.

Understanding of network security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and coordinate with engineers, system owners, and other technical stakeholders.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.

Ability to work on-site in Egg Harbor Township, NJ

Desired Qualifications

FAA or National Airspace System (NAS) experience.

Experience with FTI, FENS, FNTB, or FeNTB.

Experience with TDM-to-IP network modernization.

Hands-on experience with VLANs, routing, firewalls, and network configurations.

Experience with integration, interoperability, failover, or redundancy testing.

Experience with SWIM/SOA services.

Familiarity with Zero Trust security principles.

Experience supporting mission-critical network environments.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.
